testing radon in schools is a requirement in COThe Colorado Department of Health requires all schools in Colorado to be tested for radon and that the survey be conducted in compliance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Radon Measurement in Schools-Revised Edition (EPA 402-R-92-014). The results of these surveys are then to be kept on file at each school and available for review.

Aspen Radon has conducted numerous radon measurement surveys in Colorado Schools. Our measurement surveys in schools not only meet but exceed the EPA’s Radon Measurement in Schools protocols required by the Colorado Department of Health. In short, the quality and accuracy of our survey is unsurpassed by any radon tester in Colorado.

Aspen Radon has reviewed many school district reports from previous radon surveys only to find that the surveys were improperly conducted, and/or did not meet the EPA’s protocols, thus also not meeting Colorado Department of Health regulations. These inadequate surveys are not only a waste of money for the school district but could also put children and teachers at risk by being exposed to unknown levels of radon. Also, if the radon survey is not performed properly it could cost the school district an unnecessarily amount of money.

The radon measurement survey report for a school is extremely important. Aspen Radon provides the district office a report for each building tested. These reports enable each school to have the capability to maintain on file a comprehensive report of the measurement survey conducted within their buildings. Each report will include the results of both the actual room measurements and the devices and methods used for the Quality Control and Quality Assurance. The report will clearly express how the survey was conducted in compliance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Radon Measurement in Schools-Revised Edition (EPA 402-R-92-014) and in adherence to the rules and regulations governing schools in the state of Colorado.
